A captivating and heartwarming story about grandmother and granddaughter, which is also about death and the desire to be different from others, one of the most important qualities for a person. The TV presentation of Fredrik Backman's book "My Grandmother

Ashkhen Bakhchinyan, the translator of the novel "My Grandmother Asked Me to Tell You She's Sorry", believes that this book is actually for 8-100-year-olds, despite the impression that it is written for adults. "The protagonist is the granddaughter, a modern child raised in the digital age, while her grandmother represents the old generation, disconnected from modern technology. This generational contrast creates a compelling dynamic between them, yet they share a deep bond of love. Elsa, the granddaughter, is a unique child who finds solace and support in her grandmother, believing that having her by your side is akin to having an entire army behind you."

The translator notices that Backman is a very multi-layered writer. From the beginning, we see an eccentric grandmother, and although she does funny things, the reader discovers very serious and deep problems. "The book has a very important message, one of the characters, for example, says that all those who have seen a war are somewhat altered. Our society especially has this problem, and we should be more lenient towards each other, better understand that we have something to say to everyone in the world," said Bakhchinyan.

According to the book's editor, Anna Bakhshyan, the bond between the grandmother and the granddaughter is deeply moving. The grandmother passes away from a severe illness, and the entire narrative unfolds through the letters she leaves behind. "The novel delves into the lives of three generations of women: grandmother, mother, and granddaughter. Elsa finds herself alone, with her mother preoccupied with her new family and impending childbirth. Elsa feels somewhat neglected, grappling with issues at school and with her friends. Her grandmother emerges as her sole confidante. Eventually, Elsa discovers that her mother faced similar challenges to her mother, who was a doctor consumed by her work. Despite this revelation, Elsa forgives her grandmother."

According to the editor, Backman's heroes are very real, and regardless of nationality, we can project them with familiar and famous faces. Everything is almost the same: emotions, feelings, sorrow, joy, what is characteristic of all nations. According to the description, it is a very influential and heartbreaking book without age restrictions.

Loris Vardanyan, executive director of the "Bookinist", said that the initiative of translating the book came from the Newmag publishing house. "Newmag set a precedent because this kind of partnership, I can say, is happening for the first time, and we gladly accepted the offer. Why? because we create books and spread knowledge. The main motive is to give a greater opportunity to the distribution of the books, it is a very useful format."

According to the director of "Bookinist", the novel can be included in the list of children's literature, and although it is large in volume, but young people will read it with pleasure. In general, children’s literature is the most in-demand of all time, fiction is in second place, general psychological literature is in third place, and only then comes motivational literature.
