The year 2025 became a defining chapter in Newmag Publishing House’s story—rich with content, ideas, and landmark events. We published 45 new books, delivered multiple book and arts festivals, organized scientific conferences, hosted international authors, participated in regional book fairs, and laid the foundation for a new, growing reading community.

45 new books

Newmag Publishing House concludes 2025 with 45 new titles spanning Armenian authors and international bestsellers across fiction and non-fiction—including history, politics, personal development, and business—alongside new children’s literature for all age groups.

Winter Fest

The year began with Newmag Winter Fest, our 10th book and arts festival. The 12-hour program—held on the eve of Book Giving Day—brought together a concert show, panel discussions, an exhibition, and a poetry evening. The festival’s publishing highlight was the launch of four new books and one magazine by four Armenian authors.

Summer Fest

Newmag Summer Fest ran for two days and introduced a new concept for Armenia: BOOK, WINE, JAZZ. The festival featured ten new book launches for adults and children, plus one financial magazine. A key innovation was the wine-tasting program, where six Armenian wine companies presented their products and shared insights into Armenian wine culture and traditions.

Kids Fest

This year, Newmag’s children’s festival Yerazi girk (Kids Fest) joined Summer Fest, expanding the family program with five new book releases, a musical segment, and a dedicated children’s show designed for young readers.

FrancoFest

Newmag held FrancoFest for the third time—an international autumn festival of books and arts. In 2025, for the first time, the Armenian jury of the prestigious French Prix Goncourt announced its selected laureate. Newmag published the first Goncourt Armenia laureate title, along with three additional French-language books.

Scientific conferences

Between festivals, Newmag organized two major scientific conferences. Together with the Gulbenkian Foundation, Newmag hosted the two-day forum “New Thought, New Translation.”

Day 1 combined the presentation of three psychology titles newly translated into Armenian with public discussions on overcoming post-traumatic stress, grief, and loss.

Day 2, under the theme “The World and Us,” marked the Armenian presentation of Edward Said’s seminal work “Orientalism”—a landmark publication introduced in Armenian for the first time in nearly half a century. The forum also featured the analytical manual Broken Shield” bringing together the assessments of Armenian and international experts on the last Artsakh war and the period preceding it.

Genocide Studies Week

In April, Newmag and AGBU delivered a week-long scholarly program dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The program presented Vahagn Dadrian’s major historical work, Taner Akçam’s new book, and a photo album on the Artsakh conflict. “Genocide Studies Week” concluded on April 24 with the closing discussion: “Reinterpreting the Genocide in the 21st Century.”

Participation in festivals and major platforms

Throughout 2025, Newmag maintained an active presence across Armenia’s and the region’s leading cultural and innovation platforms. The publishing house participated in the Yerevan International Book Festival, presenting Jonathan Franzen’s contemporary American classic “Crossroads” and the magazine “Inknagir.” Newmag also appeared with dedicated book pavilions in Kapan and Gyumri, and took part in the Sevan Startup Summit and Career City Fest.

On the occasion of DigiTec’s 20th anniversary, Newmag joined as a content partner. Internationally, the team attended major industry forums, including the Frankfurt Book Fair, the Sofia International Literary Program, and Moscow International Publishing Week.

International authors and expert guests

In 2025, Newmag invited six international authors and speakers to Armenia for Armenian-edition launches and book tours in Yerevan and the regions. Highlights included:

Book donation

Newmag’s regional book donation initiative—launched in 2024—expanded significantly in 2025. Fourteen regional libraries received 500 Newmag books free of charge. For many, it was the first time since their founding that collections had been replenished at this scale.

Signature Club

At year-end, Newmag introduced a new membership-based community for readers and supporters: Newmag Signature Club. Beginning with the New Year, club members will receive two new books each month, gain access to closed meetings and master classes, and enjoy capsule collections and exclusive discounts in partnership with Armenian designers.

Book Salon

In 2025, Newmag also launched a dedicated retail and community space: Newmag Book Salon, located inside G Space Urban Café (35 Tumanyan Street). The Salon offers Newmag titles at a permanent discount and will host Signature Club meetings and discussions, strengthening Newmag’s role as an everyday cultural destination, not only a publisher.
